Johnson, a 6-foot-9 forward from Ypsilanti, Mich., had been waiting on word from the NCAA Clearinghouse. He was the only one of the six incoming freshmen not eligible.
Johnson enrolled at U of L on Monday and started classes, but was not allowed to take part in anything with the team. He found out on Monday evening that he was cleared and will now be able to join his teammates.
Johnson's mother, Jaynetta, moved to Louisville over the summer so he had been living with his family.
One of the top 75 prospects in the Class of 2014, Johnson had been "fine" academically according to U of L coach Rick Pitino. He was waiting on word because of some paperwork from his school district in Michigan.
As a senior, Johnson averaged 13.1 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocked shots a game.
