After RU Official, Crosby Close To Decision
Prep school or college? Baltimore Poly point guard John Crosby will make that decision in the coming days, after the glow of his official visit to Rutgers wears off a bit. "Right now, it's either Rutgers or a prep school," the 6-foot-2, 170-pound Crosby said. "My coach and I are going over some positives, negatives, and things like that. I'm going to go home, see what my family thinks. I'll probably be making that decision Thursday." Crosby could be a late addition to the Scarlet Knights' 2014 class, or he could opt for a post-graduate year at a prep school and reclassify into the 2015 class. Until recently, he figured prep school was the only answer, but that was before he gained his eligibility and was offered by Rutgers. "I had to take a visit to Rutgers," Crosby said. "It would be crazy not to. When they offered me for the 2014 class, it was a no-brainer to come and see what it was like before finalizing the prep situation. At this point, finding out I would b ea qualifier coming in the door and being able to play right away, that was big." During his official visit, Crosby spent plenty of time speaking with the coaching staff getting to know the current members of the basketball team. "I was with the guys on the team a lot," he said. "I got to play with them, and I got to speak with coach (Eddie) Jordan, and I got to see what the social life was like in New Jersey. What stood out the most to me was probably the coaches, probably the head coach." Crosby also went over Rutgers' offensive system, and how he would fit into it. "It fit my style of play of play perfectly," Crosby said. "Coach Jordan is a player's coach. That stood out the most. When we played, it was a fast tempo. It was like a Princeton offense with some kinks thrown in it. There were a lot of down screens for the guard to come up, and some pick and roll, and that type of offense. I think I would excel in that type of offense."
