Biography:
The all-world forward is a unique talent in the history of Stanford Basketball, with his size, length and explosiveness. More than just an athlete, though, Childress has a burning desire for a rounded game and has become increasingly aggressive each of his first three years in how he attacks the basket. His sophomore (2002-03) year, the bouncy wing became the first small forward in the history of the Pac-10 to lead the conference in rebounding (8.1 rpg). His one chink in the armor, perhaps, has been his three-point shooting, which hit at just 31.3% his first two years. But he has worked on his perimeter shooting with everything else and earned preseason acclaim, including Playboy All-American honors. Childress is a Wooden Award candidate, as well as a Naismith Player of the Year candidate.
