| Carlos Hurt, a former member of College Basketball News' Top 62 high school seniors in 2001, has landed at Wabash Valley (IL) CC. The former memeber of the Houston Hopps AAU team played his freshman season at Louisville, where he averaged 8.1 points 3.4 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 14 games for the Cardinals this season, scoring in double figures in eight games. He missed 17 games due to back surgery performed on Jan. 21, but returned to play in both of the Cards' National Invitation Tournament games. He averaged 24.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and seven assists as a senior at Louisville (KY) Moore and was named as a McDonald's All-American. Hurt scored 12 points and four assists in the McDonald's All-America game and had 20 points and 14 assists to earn MVP honors for the White team in the Nike Derby Festival Classic. Hurt was a first-team all-state selection and a third-team Parade All-American. Hurt and his family moved to Louisville from Texas, where he played at Alief (TX) Elsik over the summer of 2000 and he played his senior year at Moore. The left-hander was ranked as the third best player in the nation by Rivals100Hoops, 11th overall by the Hoop Scoop, 12th by The Sporting News, 14th by Bob Gibbon's All-Star Sports Report, 15th by CNN/SI, 17th by Fox Sports and 27th by ESPN.com.
Hurt was dismissed by Louisville head coach Rick Pitino in March for violating team rules.
Wabash Valley won the NJCAA Tournament in 2001 and finished fourth place this season. The Warriors finished 32-6 in head coach Mark Nelson's first year with Wabash Valley. They lose their top two scorers in Antwain Barbour, who signed with Kentucky and Tony Allen, who inked with Oklahoma State.
