Earlier in the week Portland (Ore.) Jesuit standout Kyle Wiltjer said he didn’t have a timetable for making his college decision.
Just three days later the 6-foot-9, 225-pound post prospect opted to announce his college destination during the Boost Mobile Elite 24 all-star game. Wiltjer went with Kentucky.
"I"m very excited to be a part of that team," Wiltjer said during the Elite 24 broadcast.
"The one thing is I wanted to surround myself with the best players," he added. "They have a great recruiting class coming in and I thought it would be a great fit."
After having scholarship offers from high major programs across the country, Wiltjer, a five-star prospect, narrowed it to Kentucky, California, Wake Forest, Gonzaga and Texas. He picked Kentucky having never visited the campus.
Wiltjer, who averaged 16.5 points a game as a junior, is ranked No. 19 overall and checks in as the No. 5 power forward.
With addition of Wiltjer, who has won back-to-back state titles, Kentucky now has commitments from four top 20 prospects. He joins Michael Gilchrist, Marquis Teague and the nation's top prospect Anthony Davis.
