Daniel Gomis will be at Oak Hill next year and then in the Pac-10 the following season.

The Oregon State Beavers received their first commitment from a member of the Class of 2011.

Daniel Gomis, a 6-foot-9 power forward who played in Sun Valley, Idaho, last year, committed to the program Monday night. Gomis will attend Oak Hill Academy for his senior season.

“I committed to OSU because it’s the right decision for me,” the athletic Gomis told Scout.com. “I met coach Nate (Pomeday) three years ago when he came to my basketball camp in Senegal. That’s where our relationship started and he’s been following my activities.”

Baylor, Connecticut, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Washington State, New Mexico, Boston College and UCLA showed interest.

Gomis felt the Beavers gave him the best chance to feel right at home. “I wanna come to OSU to mentally prepare, prepare academically and am ready to enjoy the atmosphere at OSU and play the game I love which is basketball.”
