Louisville scored their 2010 big man on Monday.
Gorgui Dieng, a standout at Huntington (W.V.) Prep, committed to Rick Pitino and Louisville Monday morning.
"They have good people there and I can can go there and play," Dieng told Scout.com. "I'll get better at basketball and I can get to the next level with coach P."
Over the course of his recruitment, Dieng, a 6-foot-10, 205-pound center, developed a strong bond with Pitino and assistant coach Walter McCarty. That played a big role in his decision.
"I have a good relationship with coach P and coach Walt," Dieng told Scout.com. "My relationship with coach Walt is good. He's helped me and he's pushed me. He knows a lot about basketball."
Dieng, who averaged 15 points, 13 rebounds and seven blocks during his senior season, said style of play was also a big factor.
"How they play," he responded when asked what stuck out about Louisville. "They play fast break basketball. Coach P doesn't always care about the offense he wants you to play defense and then you can do what you want on offense."
Dieng, who chose the Cardinals over Marquette, is Louisville's third 2010 commitment. He joins high school teammate Justin Coleman as well as South Kent (Conn.) standout Russ Smith.
