SEATTLE – On Thursday Franklin point guard Aaron Brooks was introduced to the nation as a McDonald’s All-American. On Friday it was back to business in the hometown as the Quakers took on Garfield.

Brooks Goes For 31 In Win

The hottest high school ticket in Seattle on Friday was at Franklin High where the Quakers hosted Garfield. It was the first game for Franklin point guard Aaron Brooks since being named to the McDonald’s All-American team and he wouldn’t disappoint.

Franklin rolled out to 44-25 halftime lead and was never threatened as they won 86-70 to advance to the championship game of the KingCo 4-A championship game. Brooks hit his first two 3-pointers and scored 9 points in the opening quarter.

Franklin’s senior point guard finished with a game-high 31 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Overall he went 10-21 from the field including a 4-for-8 effort from downtown and a smooth 7-for-8 from the line.

Brooks is all about speed. He’s a jet in the open court and isn’t afraid to challenge in the paint. He’s the perfect drive and kick offensive weapon that will do well at Oregon, especially if the Ducks can man the perimeter with capable deep shooters.

Franklin junior point guard Lyndale Burleson scored 12 points in the first half and finished with that total for the game. He ran into foul trouble early in the third quarter and took just one shot in the second half as Franklin seized a sizable lead.

NOTES – Kansas assistant coach Steve Robinson was in the building presumably watching Burleson. Burleson is a teammate of Seattle Rotary standout Marvin Williams, a Kansas target. Burleson has received some preliminary interest from KU but heading into the spring probably is not a serious KU target. … Twins Lodrick and Rodrick Stewart were in the house watching the big game. … Franklin is all set at the point with Burleson and 2006 freshman Jordan Daisy. The latter didn’t play much but you can expect to hear a lot about him before he’s a senior. … We’ll have shot charts from the game in the coming days. …
