The Virginia Commonwealth Rams delivered a significant piece of their recruiting class this weekend. Juvonte Reddic, a 6-foot-8 power forward out of Winston Salem (N.C.) Quality Education Academy, looked at Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Maryland but will sign with the Rams.
He visited this weekend with his high school coach. “It really went well and he committed to VCU,” QEA coach Isaac Pitts told Scout.com. “He really liked it. Coach Wade did a really good job of recruiting the kid. Shaka came in and did an in-home with his aunt and uncle and they were really impressed with the things he talked to Juvonte about.”
Reddic, a late blooming big man, is athletic and has a motor. He was one of the top available post players in the country. Reddic cited the overall structure of the program as a selling point.
“It was the support," Reddic said. "At VCU basketball is the focal point and there’s a lot of support. I liked that a lot.”
The Rams have an excellent class coming next fall. Rob Brandenburg just helped beat the nation’s No. 1 in the Ohio regional finals. Bigs D.J. Haley and Toby Veal join wing Reco McCarter and now Reddic.
