AROUND THE NATION – Winter weather smacked the East Coast hard the past week shutting down games in America’s most populated corridor. The biggest story is Terrance Ross’s return to Portland Jefferson.

2010 Checklist

Brandon Knight went for 48 points last Friday in a loss to Austin Rivers and Winter Park. Rivers pumped in 41 points.

Joe Jackson went for 39 points and White Station drubbed Mitchell 104-65. White Station is undefeated in its region.

Unsigned senior Josh Langford led Lee past Butler Monday night. Langford his a 3-pointer late in the game for the winners. Butler’s top junior Trevor Lacy, left the game in overtime with a knee injury.

Ian Miller led United Faith past Davidson Day with 29 points. The defending state champions in the 1-A private school sector won 80-55.

Tennessee signee Tobias Harris and his brother Tyler combine for 51 points and 28 boards in a 28-point win over Bellport. Tobias had 36 points and 18 rebounds for Hills West which remained undefeated in league play.

LSU signee Jalen Courtney powered Provine past Lanier Tuesday night with 22 points.

There were a lot of players on the court Tuesday night when Friends Central beat Academy of New Church 71-64. ANC’s Rakeem Christmas had 22 points and 8 rebounds. Sophomore Amile Jefferson had 11 for Friends and Savon Goodman 12 in the loss. Devin Coleman and Travis Robinson combined for 38 for FC.

James McAdoo went for 32 and 14 as Norfolk Christian annihilated Hampton Roads 77-29.

Lawrence North center Michael Chandler is playing up to his lofty ranking. Chandler had 13 points and 12 rebounds in LN’s 44-34 victory over Carmel.

Terrance Ross is back at his old high school, Jefferson.. We can confirm that despite mentions, Duke, at this stage, is not recruiting him. … They aren’t ballin’ in DC-Baltimore corridor.. The weather isn’t cooperating. … Hopewell lost its first game in Mecklenburg County in two years. Marquis Rankin and Braxton Ogbueze led Vance. …

John Gilchrist’s high school coach is hanging up the whistle.. Excellent read about Bill Cochrane, Salem’s retiring head coach. … Allen Crabbe, a Scout.com Top 100 player, has it going for L.A. Price.
