52 For James
52 For James

TRENTON, N.J. – You had to be there to understand the magnitude of the performance. LeBron James scored a career-high 52 points – the same number of points the entire Westchester team scored – as he put on a show.

Superstar Effort From Star Guard

He hit a 35-foot buzzer beater. He had 7 steals and hit 6 3-pointers. He made people feel like they got their money’s worth after just one quarter; a quarter in which he scored 18 points.

Folks, LeBron James wasn’t high school good on Saturday night. He was professional good. It takes a special athlete to muster up the kind of virtuoso performances he puts together almost on command.

A few weeks ago after the “Hummer Incident” he went off for a career-high 50 points. In his first performance since a court cleared him to play, he goes off for 52. If you’re at a restaurant and the service is like this, you tip the waiter. After this one, tips were most certainly in order.

The guy has charisma. It’s a gift to understand the gravity of the moment, accept the challenge and perform at the level he did tonight. Even by the high standards he’s set, this was a signature effort and one that everyone in the building appreciated.

Here’s the numbers:

52 points (career high)
21-35 FG
6-10 3s
4-8 FT
6 rebounds
2 assists (one no-look pass)
7 steals
1 turnover, 0 fouls
