Access Grant-ed, Releford Decides
Trevor Releford knew that he would be able to make his college decision after his official visit to Alabama this weekend. As it turned out, the 5-foot-11 point guard from Bishop Miege in Kansas was ready to make his decision within a few hours of stepping foot in Tuscaloosa. Via text message, Releford confirmed that he gave a verbal commitment to Anthony Grant and Alabama earlier this evening. "This place is nice," Releford said. "I feel like I can come in and impact the team." With the addition of Releford -- who chose the Crimson Tide over Oklahoma -- Grant and his staff have added one of the premier playmakers and ball handlers in the class of 2010. It's also Grant's most significant recruit since taking over for Mark Gottfried last spring. According to Releford he had been back and forth between the Tide and Sooners since impressive in-home visits from both and a strong visit to Norman last weekend. However, in the end he felt comfortable enough with Grant and his staff to go ahead and pull the trigger. "He is a good coach with a track record for getting guys to the league," Releford told scouthoops.com of Grant. "I think he can make me better on and off the court." Releford, who is ranked No. 50 in the country by scout.com, joins Florida wing Charles Hankerson and prep school big man Shawn Kemp Jr. as the third member of the Crimson Tide's 2010 recruiting class.
