Robert Brown, a 6-foot-4 junior shooting guard out of Florida is headed to the ACC.

During the busiest month of the season, it can be a tad hectic. Every once in a while a commitment flies below the radar. For example, Robert Brown was scooped up by Virginia Tech and became Seth Greenberg’s first recruit in the Class of 2011.

Brown, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard out of Claremont (Fla.) East Ridge, ran with Showtime last summer and was coached by Diana Neal. Cincinnati, VCU and South Florida showed interest in the 22-point per game scorer.

“I like their style of play,” Brown said of Virginia Tech. “It’s a lot of running and they use their wing players a lot in their offense. He likes his wings.”

Brown has already been to campus. “My high school coach talked to them and took me up to a camp this summer. They saw me play and that’s when they offered me.”
