Spearman Added To Strong Class
The Dayton Flyers are on a roll. They built their recruiting class around Top 100 point guard Juwan Staten and then added scoring wing Jesse Berry. On Friday, Brian Gregory's Flyers received a commitment from an extremely competitive wing player. Brandon Spearman is A-10 bound. The Flyers trailed the 6-foot-2 Chicago Simeon product all over the place during the first half of the recruiting period. Their presence at his games made a huge impact. "Every single day, every game," Spearman said. "They were there every time. It was incredible. I'm so glad they spent their time to come see me play. That showed me how much they really wanted me." The Flyers have the early line on the league's top class. Regardless, it's a group of guards and wings that not only are highly regarded but will be complimentary to each other. The class resembles the three-man group Marquette assembled five years ago and rode to the NCAA Tournament. Staten is Dayton's Dominic James, Berry doubles as Wesley Matthews and Spearman mans the role of Jerel McNeal. "It influenced me a little bit with Juwan Staten and Jesse Berry," Spearman said. "Those guys are really good players and I just wanted to be a part of it."
