Coleman Commits To Big East Team
The Providence Friars secured a key commitment this weekend. Gerard Coleman, Scout.com's No. 64 prospect in the Class of 2010, committed to Keno Davis and the Friars. "I did my research and looked into the schools," Coleman said. "I had it down to Clemson, Providence and Connecticut. Providence is close to home, it's a great academic program and the way they play fits me well. Everybody in my family can come see me play." Coleman visited the Friars this weekend and said he went with the intentions of becoming a Friar. For him, the past success of the program was a big draw. "It was the history of it. They've had a lot of success in the past. Recently they haven't really made the tournament but I think with hard work and teammates that are willing to go hard and work with each other we can bring back." Coleman, a Tilton School product, sees the big picture. "Every kid dreams to go to the NBA after college. If that doesn't work out, they promised me my degree and that's the most important thing." Coleman's pledge gives the Friars a tap into the powerful BABC program. The wing is also highly regarded and locking down a Top 100 prospect is a feather in the cap of Davis. Getting it done pre-July was key.
