Don’t look now but the Towson Tigers are assembling a strong CAA recruiting class. After recently adding center Erique Gumbs of Bear (Del.) Caravel Academy, the program tapped Isaiah Philmore.
The 6-foot-7 power forward out of Bel Air (Md.) Carroll, trimmed his list to Central Florida, South Florida, George Washington and Towson before picking the Tigers. He and Gumbs are traveling team mates.
“I had a feeling that he was leaning that way after his visits because he was really re-thinking going far away from home,” Delaware Sharpshooters coach Duane Coverdale told Scout.com. “I think that was a major reason why he decided to go there. Plus, Erique Gumbs is going there and they are real close.”
Philmore, a 3-star recruit per Scout.com, should make a splash in the CAA. Coverdale feels like Towson may have a big timer on its hands.
“I think him and Rashanti Harris at Georgia State should be the two best freshmen there. Both should battle it out for freshman of the year in that conference. I think he could have a tremendous career there.”
