Horne Headed To MAC

Marquis Horne

John Groce's Ohio Bobcats made Marquis Horne a priority. Following his official weekend visit, there was reason to celebrate.

When John Groce took over at Ohio U., the Bobcats targeted a young man from Cincinnati (Ohio) Princeton. Marquis Horne, a 6-foot-6 small forward, morphed into the program's top target.

On Sunday, following his second official visit, the Bobcats scored a verbal. The 12-point and 7-rebound a game producer visited both Ohio and Kent State.

"They added me to the list so I guess that's plus," Horne told Scout.com. "They recruited me very hard since Coach Groce got the job, they were on it. They recruited me harder than any school I had on my list. I felt I was their No. 1 guy since Day One."

Horne's play on the spring and summer circuit took his stock from good to great.

"I think coming into the spring I had maybe two offers. I played strong in a couple of tournaments and my offers with the mid-major schools skyrocketed. It stayed pretty steady for a while. At the end, I showed interest in the school that showed the most interest in me."
