Spiders Strike Again With Robbins

National Recruiting Director

Greg Robbins didn't play a minute of hoop in July. That fact didn't deter the Richmond Spiders pursuing him with great determination.

Greg Robbins wasn’t out on the circuit in July. Instead, the Philadelphia (Pa.) Lower Merion standout was back home getting healthy. A break in his forearm kept him out of action. Robbins hopes to be back on the court in September.

The next time he takes the floor and plays a basketball game, he’ll be looked at by his peers as a college player. As of Friday, he’s property of the Richmond Spiders and is the second 2009 prospect to pledge to the school this week.

Virginia, St. Joe’s, Temple and Siena showed interest in the 17.6 point game, second-team all-stater. Richmond, however, worked him over pretty good to get the commitment.

“They’ve been talking to me for a while now and I’m confident about their staff and the location of their school,” Robbins said. “I can have a good career there.”

Last year, the Spiders proved the program has excellent young talent. Robbins noticed. “They had the rookie of the year in the A-10 in Kevin Anderson. He’ll be a junior when I come and they’ll some other guys with a chance to be really good.”
