Louisiana Select Forward Signs
Paul Millsap turned in a fine Nike All-American Camp in 2002. He also played with Mike Theus’ Louisiana Select team in the spring and summer where he showed significant improvement.
“He signed with La Tech yesterday,” Theus said on Friday. “It was close to home and a lot of seniors were graduating. It also didn’t hurt that Johnny Simmons, an assistant at Tech, is related to Millsap. That’s a great recruiting tool. But, distance also played a key role in the signing.
“Playing time was a key factor and he’s only four miles from his home. Louisiana Tech is about four miles from his house.”
Theus loves Millsap’s long term potential. “He can be really, really good. They’ll play him probably at the four.”
