Curry Excited About His Options

Hopewell's Brandyn Curry used a strong junior season to bolster his credentials and now has big time academic-minded schools lining up to lock him down.

One of the top point guards in North Carolina's Class of 2009 is Brandyn Curry. A strong student, the Hopewell rising senior averaged 17 points a game to go with 4 boards and 4 helpers.

Curry's recruitment spans the East Coast. From the Ivy's to the big boys, some are offering and others evaluating. All of the attention is the product of a junior season in which he distinguished himself in one of the most competitive public school leagues in the state.

"I was kind of nervous because I was a sophomore and I was hurt all last season," Curry said. "I wasn't on the radar yet and I didn't know where I was. I didn't know what was going to happen to me."

Wright State, VCU, Harvard, William & Mary and numerous Ivy League programs are in the mix. As it stands, a pair of schools seem to be pursuing him the hardest.

"I think head coach wise it would be Coach Shaver (William & Mary) and Coach Amaker (Harvard). They got to know me more. Coach Shaver knows my nickname and about the girls at the prom. He puts a lot of effort into coming to see me play."

The Charlotte Royals guard has been to W&M, South Carolina, Davidson and American. "I've got a couple of majors that called. Kentucky wants me to come out. I'm OK with the mid-majors."
