Marshall Makes His Pick

Zeke Marshall is off the board. The class of 2009 standout made his pick on Friday and he plans to play in the Mid-American Conference.

Zeke Marshall put together a solid spring and more schools were trying to get involved. However it was a little too late, as Akron built a strong relationship with the 7-footer and picked up a commitment from him on Friday.

“He just really, really, really feel in love with the staff,” Nicole Bozeman, Zeke’s mother, said. “I think that was one of the major reasons why Ezekiel felt like Akron was a very good fit for him.”

Over the past few years, Marshall, a 2009 prospect, took a handful of visits to Akron’s campus and he got a great feel for the entire program.

“There are two very important decisions that you make in your life, where you just know that it’s the right fit for you in your heart and that’s when you choose your college and you choose your mate,” Bozeman said.

“It just felt like it was perfect. It’s a good fit for him. He loves the campus. He fits in as a person and his personality. There wasn’t anything that we questioned or were concerned about. There were no issues. Ezekiel just felt very comfortable being there.”

Marshall, a standout at McKeesport (Pa.) High, is a big pick up for Akron. With his size, he’s already a talented shot blocker and his offensive game continues to improve.

According to Bozeman, Marshall, who averaged 10 points, 11 rebounds and nine blocks per game last season, picked Akron over strong interest from George Mason, Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh.
