No. 76 Maurice Creek Decides

Maurice Creek is Big Ten bound. On Sunday afternoon, one of Scout.com’s Top 100 prospects ended his recruitment in favor of a national power.

The Indiana Hoosiers dipped into the Class of 2009 and scored a Top 100 wing. Maurice Creek, a 6-foot-4 wing guard out of South Kent (Conn.) South Kent School, committed to the Hoosiers on Sunday after considering Miami and a host of program.

“I couldn’t turn them down,” Creek told Scout.com. “It’s a big time program and it’s a great school and a basketball school. I like Indiana, my parents love Indiana and I can wait to be in Coach Crean’s hand. I’m going out there next week.”

Creek runs with Triple Threat on the traveling team circuit and has always carried the reputation of a shooter. A Maryland native, Crean recruited him hard during his tenure at Marquette and the interest followed to Bloomington.

“It was narrowed down to them and Miami,” Triple Threat coach Keith Stevens said. “He had built a real good relationship with Coach Crean and that's where he wanted to go.

“He'll play a lot like Jerel McNeal at Marquette. He'll do a little bit of everything.”

Having the chance to come in early and being charged with the task of scoring was enough for Creek to pull the trigger on Sunday afternoon.

“They said that they want me to be the scorer that I always am.”

Creek is presently rated the No. 17 shooting guard and No. 76 overall player in the Class of 2009.
