Blue Picks In State School

Vander Blue had strong interest from a handful of high major programs and the two-guard decided it was time to make his pick.

The Wisconsin Badgers picked up their first commitment of the 2010 class late Monday night, when Vander Blue, of Madison (Wisc.) Memorial, verballed to the coaching staff.

"I've been discussing it the last couple of weeks with my family," Blue told The Capital Times. "We took a visit up there and we really are excited about the whole thing. There's a lot of good news about Wisconsin and, looking at the background and what's coming in the future, by the time I get there it's going to be a real good fit for me."

Last season Blue, who was name to the second-team All Big Eight Conference, averaged nearly 13 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, while leading the Spartans to the WIAA Division I state championship game.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pound shooting guard, picked the Badgers over strong interest from Indiana, Marquette and Kentucky.
