Flanked by his brother and high school coach, Scout.com’s No. 4 prospect in the Class of 2008, made his collegiate decision.
Tyreke Evans, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard out of Aston (Pa.) American Christian, selected the Memphis Tigers over Villanova and Texas.
“I’m feeling pretty good now,” Evans told a TV audience. “It feels great to be free (of the stresses of the decision).”
As a senior, Evans averaged 32.1 points, 8.8 rebounds and 5.5 assists for his team. Evans was also the MVP of the McDonalds All-American game last month in Milwaukee.
This is the second year in a row the Memphis Tigers secured a commitment from a Top 5 player. Last year John Calipari landed Derrick Rose out of Chicago.
