Interest Picks Up For Lopez
Michael Peck has quickly loaded up on talent at Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep. This year he has a roster full of talented athletes that includes Clarence Trent, DeAndre Liggins and Deividas Dulkys. While those three have received plenty of national attention, Carlos Lopez has not, but he deserves it. Lopez, a native of Puetro Rico, is off to a solid start with Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep and is averaging 11 points and 5 rebounds through their first seven games. While the numbers are impressive, it's his potential that is intriguing. The class of 2009 prospect, who is 6-foot-10, 200-pounds, is extremely versatile and has the ability to face up defenders. Although we consider him a post prospect, in a recent workout he worked solely with the wings. "Actually they want to use me on the wing and in the post," Lopez said. "I need to work on my wing skills some, but I think that I can play both." Lopez, who has already picked up interest from UNLV, Gonzaga, Oklahoma, Florida and Texas, said all his hard work is starting to pay off, as his game is improving and coaches have taken notice. "I've been working hard in practice and that is showing in the games," Lopez said. "When you are playing in the games you see the effects of practicing hard every single day." Findlay Prep has a big match up with Marietta (Ga.) Wheeler on Saturday night at the Marshall County Hoopfest, however Lopez won't be able to play due to a minor knee injury. He hopes to be back by next week.
