Forest Park's Chris Cooper picked Old Dominion after a strong mid-major recruiting tussle.

The Old Dominion Monarchs secured a commitment from a frontcourt player that has tremendous upside. Chris Cooper, a highly regarded 6-foot-8 power forward out of Woodbridge (Va.) Forest Park, committed to the Monarchs after looking at Temple, George Mason and George Washington.

“I just felt like ODU’s approach to the game was the right fit for me,” Cooper told The Pilot. Last year Cooper averaged under 10 points but a solid 8.5 rebounds.

It wasn’t his high school season but his traveling team play with the Hoop Booth that caught the attention of the college recruiters. After a strong showing at the Southern Invitational in May, Cooper’s stock rose.

Once it was established he was a player in the CAA or A-10, programs began aggressively recruiting him and he was brought onto campus for multiple visits as he was a priority recruit for the team’s on his list.
