More Wednesday Commitments

Posted Oct 2, 2002

The Kansas Jayhawks doubled their pleasure on Wednesday when they followed up a commitment from David Padgett with another from Omar Wilkes. Earlier in the day, Gary Forbes made it official for the Cavaliers.

Forbes, Wilkes Commit

Gary Forbes told us for the last month that he had his mind set on playing in the ACC. On Wednesday, he ended the recruiting process. Forbes’ mother confirmed that her son did indeed select Virginia over Georgia Tech.

The Wahoos landed a guy tailored to the way they play. Not only can Forbes shoot it, he runs well and has great size. He’s a Top 50 player coming out of the summer.

Meanwhile in Lawrence, Omar Wilkes insured that Kansas is still strong on the West Coast. He opted for the Jayhawks despite offers from California and UCLA, the school where his father once played.

The beauty of Wilkes is that he’s a heady player, capable of playing more than one position and playing them well.
