Dunigan, Humphrey Finalize Plans
The Oregon Ducks landed a pair of key verbal commitments on Monday. Top 100 prospects Michael Dunigan and Matthew Humphrey are headed to Oregon. The recruiting trail has been buzzing with talk of a package deal from this pair. Dunigan, Scout.com's No. 20 recruit and a product of Farragut Academy in Chicago, had his pick of schools. From Purdue, Illinois, Georgetown and a host of others, Oregon closed the gap quickly. Humphrey, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard (No. 59), had been considered an Oregon lean since last week and his commitment comes as no surprise. He had multiple Big Ten programs plus Notre Dame chasing him. The package deal with Dunigan wasn't always the case but Humphrey said it started to make sense. Humphrey Can Stroke It " It wasn't always the case. But, we got to thinking about it earlier this summer. We had some of the same schools that wanted us and figured why not go together?" In the pair, Oregon is getting one of the premier shooters and one of the fastest rising big men in the nation. The pair plays on the same AAU team, Meanstreets. Their commitments also continue a trend of Midwest kids heading to Eugene. Malik Hairston began the cycle, followed closely by Ty Porter and Joevan Catron (Meanstreets alum). "They were the best basketball fit and family fit for me as far as trying to get better and get to the next level," Humphrey said. "They stuck with me and they weren't too aggressive. They told me how they felt and kept it that way."
