Big East School Strikes
The West Virginian Mountaineers have finally struck under new coach Bob Huggins. William Thomas, a 6-foot-5 wing player out of Cleveland (Ohio) Shaw, committed to the Mountaineers Tuesday night. He signed scholarship papers, according to his family. "Coach Huggins never pressured me to sign with them," Thomas said. "The team already has a group of guys that play hard and I look forward to playing with them and any new recruits." Thomas broke his leg last season which set him back. However, Huggins had seen him prior to the injury. Ohio U., St. Joe's, Washington State, Wyoming and a slew of mid-major programs had offered Thomas. A talented and tall perimeter player, he could fill the role of a small forward or even a point guard. He averaged 19.5 points and 11.5 rebounds as a senior. Thomas is the first member of the Class of 2007 to pledge to the new regime in Morgantown.
