According to numerous media reports out of Aliquippa, star forward Herb Pope was shot four times at a party over the weekend.
While no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, Pope was able to see teammates and coaches following his surgery.
“The doctors said he should be OK,” Pittsburgh Jots coach J.O Stright told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “It was encouraging. He carried on a conversation with me.”
According to the paper, Pope was shot twice in the abdomen and once in the thigh. It was a shot to the arm that brings about the most questions in terms of his basketball future.
Pope, a New Mexico State signee, averaged 19 points and 11 rebounds last season for runner-up Aliquippa.
