| 1. BRIDGTON ACADEMY (MAINE) |
| Record: | 14-0 |
| Comments: | After Notre Dame suffered its first loss, Whit Lesure's club moves into the top spot and deservedly so. Wins against Patterson, Hargrave, Winchendon, South Kent and New Hampton have proven they are currently the best team in the land. Justin Burrell (St. John's) has been terrific, averaging 21 points and 13 boards thus far while Lesure's point guard duo of Brian Rudolph and Paul Becklens have been more than competent. |
| 2. PATTERSON SCHOOL (N.C.) |
| Record: | 17-1 |
| Comments: | The lone blemish thus far has come against top-ranked Bridgton. Chris Chaney's club has knocked off St. Thomas More, New Hampton, Laurinburg and Charis Prep with Seton Hall-bound guard Jeremy Hazel (23 ppg) leading the way and unsigned senior power forward Tirrell Baines leading the team with 13 boards per contest. |
| 3. NOTRE DAME (MASS.) |
| Record: | 13-1 |
| Comments: | Bill Barton's club was rolling along until suffering a loss at the Boys Club Tournament to Northfield Mount Hermon. Notre Dame Prep has wins against Hargrave, Stoneridge, South Kent and Winchendon thus far and are led by Kansas State-bound Michael Beasley, who is averaging 22 points and 13 boards per game. |
| 4. WINCHENDON SCHOOL (MASS.) |
| Record: | 9-3 |
| Comments: | After a season-opening loss to Lee Academy, Mike Byrnes & Co. have rebounded in a big way. The Winch beat Hargrave and has also posted victories over MCI, Fork Union, New Hampton and St. Benedict's prep squad with losses coming against No. 1 Bridgton and No. 3 Notre Dame Prep. |
| 5. BREWSTER ACADEMY (N.H.) |
| Record: | 11-2 |
| Comments: | Jason Smith took his group out to the west coast and came back with a 2-1 mark and a loss to Boys to Men. The only other blemish was a home setback to the enigmatic South Kent club. P'Allen Stinnett (Creighton) went for 32 points, including 7 trifectas, in a win against New Hampton while junior Emmanuel Negedu scored 35 in a win over MCI earlier in the month. |
| 6. HARGRAVE MILITARY ACADEMY (VA.) |
| Record: | 9-3 |
| Comments: | Kevin Keatts and his team have endured a trio of tough losses thus far - to No. 1 Bridgton, No. 3 Notre Dame Prep and No. 4 Winchendon. They are in need of quality wins to try and move into the top 4. Dorenzo Hudson got hurt early in the loss to Bridgton, which went into overtime. |
| 7. BOYS TO MEN (ILL.) |
| Record: | 12-3 |
| Comments: | Loren Jackson team is difficult to figure with wins over Brewster, St. Thomas More and South Kent - and losses to Decatur Christian, Harmony's B team and Olney Community College. So far, it's been the Mac Koshwal (DePaul) and Leon Freeman show. |
| 8. NORTHFIELD MOUNT HERMON (MASS.) |
| Record: | 7-3 |
| Comments: | Bill Batty won perhaps the biggest game of his career when his team knocked off previous No. 1 Notre Dame Prep in New York. However, they need to be more consistent after losses to Blair, Brewster and New Hampton. Tyrone Nash (Notre Dame) was the MVP at the Boys Club Tourney in NY. |
| 9. STONERIDGE PREP (CALIF.) |
| Record: | 11-4 |
| Comments: | Coach Babacar Sy and his club came out east and lost a pair of heartbreakers to Notre Dame Prep and MCI. However, they got a measure of revenge in their own backyard when they knocked off St. Thomas More and South Kent. Stoneridge did manage a win in the trip east against Lee Academy. |
| 10. SOUTH KENT (CONN.) |
| Record: | 11-5 |
| Comments: | This is a tough team to try and figure out. They lose three out west to Findlay, Stoneridge and Boys to Men and then come back and knock off Brewster on the road. Isaiah Thomas has given Raphael Chillious' team a lift and he had 20 points and 9 assists in a win over Mt. Zion's prep squad. Washington-bound forward Matthew Bryan-Amaning added 27 in the victory. |
