Who Runs The East Coast?

Sports Illustrated magazine started a controversy. In a June article, the acclaimed sports bible claimed that the top high school hoops city is Philadelphia. The Philadelphia public had many reasons to boast about the acclaim.

The Capital City and the state of Maryland took exception to the Brotherly Love's high marks. With such high profile national players like the Georgetown local commitments - Chris Wright (St.John’s), Austin Freeman (DeMatha), and juniors Chris Braswell (DeMatha) Jason Clarke (O'Connell), and Baltimore's own Top 10 national player, Donte Greene (Syracuse) and junior Sean Mosley (St.Francis)- the local area is no slouch in regards to high school ballers.

It bothered many in the area including the D.C. Triple Threat coaching staff that the local area did not have the reputation of being the nation’s top hotbed. So with the help of Kamal Yad, coach of the Philly area AAU powerhouse- Cuttino Mobley Studz, we decided it was time to settle the score ton the hardwood. Yard gathered together a coalition of Philadelphia area hoops coaches and scouts. "Philadelphia is going down to Maryland and we're ready to make this clear about what city rules the East Coast," says Yard.

The trash talk has already begun; Maryland has promised Philly a true butt kicking. Philly has returned the favor with some trash talk of their own' "I played against Chris Wright before and he asked me what school was I going to, "says Malcolm Eleby, a St. Bonaventure commit. "He acted like he wanted my autograph."

We R One and Universal Madness clothing lines present the first annual Philly versus Maryland Shootout. The event will be held at Oxon Hill High School on Oct. 28, 2006. Games begin a 1 p.m. Rosters are listed below. If you have any questions you can e-mail them to [e-mail].
