Jacob Settles Into SEC Country
The Georgia Bulldogs have solidified their frontline. Last week, Dennis Felton locked up Chris Barnes, this time around they dipped into the prep school ranks for another big man. Combo forward Jeremy Jacob is headed to Athens. Last year, Scout.com ranked Jacob No. 85 in its final Top 100 for the Class of 2006. The Louisiana native rallied for a big senior year and capped it off with a strong AAU spring. Somehow he still managed to flew just a shade under the radar. Or maybe he was just undervalued? Maybe we overvalued him? "I think people made a mistake," Hargrave head coach Kevin Keatts said. "He's a very good combo forward; he loves to compete and he's super strong. I think a lot of people in the future in the SEC, they'll realize what a pickup this was for Georgia. The one thing he does is he wins game and he's a heckuva player." Jacobs had Tennessee lined up for an early November visit and both South Florida and Wyoming came at him hard. Keatts sees Jacob being a two-position frontcourt player who is likely to expand his game as his collegiate career unfolds. "He's a four man that I can see by the time he's a sophomore being able to move out to the small forward. He's a kid that's played mostly inside in his high school career. Slowly he's developing more perimeter skills."
