Xavier To Receive Wing Commitment

Dante Jackson will soon be considered a member of the Xavier basketball recruiting class … officially. Multiple sources are reporting that Jackson selected the Musketeers over Dayton and a host of interested parties.

Dante Jackson’s cell phone goes straight to voicemail as he’s been fairly quiet in regards to his recruitment. Fairly quiet, but not silent. Multiple sources in Ohio have reported that the Greenfield (Ohio) McClain product is Xavier bound.

The decision comes on the heels of a late July AAU tournament where Jackson, while playing with the Queen City Prophets, was trailed hard by the Flyers and Musketeers as the programs patiently waited to see if Jackson would open his process to more schools.

Actually, they didn’t wait patiently, as both programs actively pushed for a commitment. This week, it appears as though Xavier’s influence won out. Jackson is likely to be ranked among the Top 25 shooting guards in the Class of 2007 by Scout.com.

He’s a player who is comfortable on the perimeter where he routinely hits from 3-point range and works the mid-range game from elbow to elbow. Once thought to be a football prospect as well, Jackson is looking to play only hoops in college, evidenced by his choice of a school void of a football team.

This commitment is significant for Xavier as it represents the Musketeers locking up one of its elite recruiting targets.
