Boilermakers Get Their Man
Some thought it might be E'Twaun Moore. Others postulated that Robbie Hummel could be the first to give his word. On Monday, JaJuan Johnson took the bull by the horns and stepped up and made his commitment. "I was just comfortable at Purdue," Johnson told the Indianapolis Star. The 6-foot-10 Indianapolis Franklin Central standout averaged 15 points a game as a junior and was among the leaders in blocked shots in the Hoosier State. Johnson's commitment is significant on a number of fronts. Matt Painter's troops landed one of the elite prospects in the state and that could be a sign to others that Purdue is aiming high for a standout crop of players from the area. Secondly, Johnson is a good player. He's long, can run and his defensive prowess will be welcomed in West Lafayette, Ind. Rated the No. 74 prospect in the country, this commitment could be the first in a series of Top 100 players for Painter and that would be satisfying news for a staff that has laid the groundwork in their area.
