Knox Plans Busy Month
Justin Knox might be from Tuscaloosa but he sure is being looked out by a lot of programs outside the state border. In fact, the 6-foot-8 power forward is kind of on a tour this month of campuses across the southeast. Last weekend, the Birmingham Raptors standout camped at Florida and then visited the Gators unofficially. "We went down there and Justin really enjoyed it," Darian Knox, Justin's uncle told Scout.com. "We spoke with Coach Donovan and he really enjoyed it. For Florida to be his No. 1 school that speaks volumes that he would go there for camp." But its not the only camp Knox will attend this month. He's on the move and programs are trying to learn more about him, get in their evaluations and then sometime in July we'll likely learn of who puts forth scholarship offers to the talented student-athlete. Knox's uncle outlined his nephew's busy June schedule. Next up on the docket is camp at Alabama-Birmingham on the 18th, followed by an unofficial visit to Virginia the next day and then it's on to Mississippi State for camp on the 20th but it doesn't stop there. Knox visits Tennessee unofficially on the 23rd, camps at Mississippi on the 25th and then he's swept off to Baton Rouge for an unofficial visit with the LSU Tigers. Of course there's Alabama keeping close contact while North Carolina State and others have begun checking in by phone. That's a pretty intense month of ball and travel and by the time it's over Knox should be wiped out … just in time to get it rolling in July. However, the trips could pay dividends as he'll be able to get familiar with other programs and vice versa. Knox is flying a little below the radar which isn't easy to do when you're 6-8 and armed with a 3.0+ GPA. Programs want to get out and evaluate him before tendering offers and the unofficial visits and camp stays should be rewarding for both sides.
