The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers dipped into the junior college pool and popped a first-team all-american.

Tyrone Brazelton, a 5-foot-11 native of Illinois who attends Missouri State-West Plains, signed with Western Kentucky this week. The first-team junior college all-american averaged 18 points a game and was the district player of the year.

After visiting Utah State and Evansville, Brazelton also considered Cincinnati, Missouri, Wyoming and Minnesota, each of which called on him during the spring period.

“I built a relationship with the coaching staff and it’s a prestigious program and I felt like we could win big there,” Brazelton told Scout.com. “They have some really good players I think I fill that need for a point guard.

The Hilltoppers signed A’Darius Pegues and A.J. Slaughter in their present 3-man class.
