Mack Puts The Finishing Touch On His Decision
Apparently, Doneal Mack's college decision was really weighing on his mind. So, prior to his game on Monday night, he signed scholarship papers with the Florida Gators and what do you know? He goes and gets 41 points. "I'm a Gator," Mack told Scout.com. The commitment will move the Gators into the Scout.com Top 25 range for recruiting class rankings as Mack is a likely Top 100 prospect the next time around. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard out of Statesville Christian took his time and had a rough ordeal in terms of reaching a final decision. "I was very cautious about it," Mack said. "I have to be there the next four years. I just felt Florida was the best place for me. It was a very tough decision. I just felt it in my heart." Mack said his call to Virginia Tech was a tough one but the Gators were the better match for him. "In talking to Billy Donovan, they're looking for a combo guard that can play defense, shoot and drive and do a little bit of everything." Mack said that he'd be perfectly happy playing a supporting role as a freshman. "I'd probably say I'll come off the bench and play my role. I'll do what the coach wants me to." In the end, expect Mack's role to be a scoring threat for the Gators as he's capable of the big scoring number just like the 41 he hung Monday night.
