United States Comes Up Short In Medal Bid
The United States lost 95-87 to defending champion Yugoslavia in the bronze medal game of the Albert Schweitzer Games. The United States finished 3-2 in the tournament.
“It was a great time,” assistant Kevin Nunley said. “It was a mini Olympics. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
Brandon Bowman led the team in scoring and was named to the all-tournament team. He averaged 16 points a game in the event. Greece defeated Spain for the gold medal. “(Greece) had a big guy inside, boy,” Nunley said. “They also had a 6-9 wing player that wasn’t on the roster.”
