Omar Thomas, Detroit Country Day’s 6-foot-5 combo forward, needs surgery to repair torn ligaments in his finger. Thomas indicated that he should be cleared to go by mid-September.
In the meantime, Thomas is making the rounds. This coming weekend he’ll see Illinois State and Toledo unofficially. The following weekend, he’s off the Western Carolina for an official visit.
“The top ones right now are probably Western, Detroit, St. Bonaventure and South Alabama,” Thomas said. “Illinois State is right up there; I just want to see how the school is and get a feel for it.”
So, with a list that includes Detroit, St. Bonnies, South Alabama, Ball State, Western Carolina, Kent State, Toledo and Illinois State, Thomas has some thinking to go.
“Actually, I’m enjoying the recruiting process,” Thomas said. “I’m not too worried about it; I’m not going to rush into it. It’s a big decision.”
