Team Will Play Spain In Semis
The United States run at the Albert Schweitzer Games in Germany continues. On Thursday, they advanced to the medal round with a 92-89 win over Israel. The “Cardiac Kids” delivered the goods once again.
“We were down 7 with 7 (minutes) to play and went on a 13-0 run,” assistant coach Kevin Nunley said. Israel didn’t go away easy. A pair of JR Reynolds free throws and two more by Brandon Bowman with 1 second left provided the final margin for the U.S.
Bowman carried the torch again for the U.S. as he scored 28 points (10-for-15 FGs). He’s been the leading scorer for the stars and stripes in the whole tournament. Bowman is bound for Georgetown.
Reynolds finished with 15 points. Davis Cantor came off the bench and proceeded to go 4-for-4 from downtown. “He even hit one falling out of bounds with the shot clock running out,” Nunley said.
West Virginia signee Kevin Pittsnogle stroked all 10 of his free throw attempts. The U.S. received 29 points from its bench.
Next up for the United States is Spain as medal round play begins on Saturday.
