Champlain St. Lambert (Montreal, Canada) will send a pair of its senior big men just south of the Canadian border next fall after Kambi Laleye and Max Boudreau committed to Buffalo on the same day.
The duo mark the 10th and 11th player that Champlain St. Lambert will send to the Division 1 ranks in the last six years – with another, William Archambault, certain to make it an even dozen when he commits in the next few months.
Lalaye is a 6-foot-9, 220-pound center whose defense is ahead of his offense while Boudreau is a 6-foot-7 ½, 225-pound power forward who is just the opposite – with his offensive skills the strength of his game.
``Kambi is an athletic defensive-minded player who has nice touch from the foul line extended,” Champlain St. Lambert coach John Dangelas said. “He still needs to work on his offensive game and his strength, but his upside is incredible. He’s a hard-nosed kid.”
”Max is a very good rebounder who is agile and extremely aggressive on the offensive end,” added Dangelas.
According to Dangelas, Laleye was also offered by Albany, Canisius and Wright State while Boudreau was also offered a scholarship by Canisius – and drew interest from the likes of UNC-Wilmington, Boston University and Arkansas-Little Rock.
``Buffalo recruited them the hardest and watched them play all five games at the Kentucky Hoop Fest and also came to four open gyms in the second period in the month of July,” Dangelas said. “They put in a lot of effort and time and it paid off. I’m really proud of these two guys and everything they’ve been able to accomplish.”
``They are very different players,” he added. “Kambi can be a 265-pound center down the road and can dominate on the defensive end while Max is far more offensive oriented. They can definitely play together because they aren’t similar at all.”
