Thaddeus Young, a 6-foot-8 small forward out of Memphis (Tenn.) Mitchell, is down to seven programs. Young, via a press release, announced that Arkansas, Duke, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Memphis, North Carolina and Tennessee were his seven schools under consideration.
Programs like Illinois, Kansas, Mississippi State, Ohio State and Oklahoma were knocked off the list. Duke’s inclusion is somewhat surprising since it’s been unclear as to how much the Blue Devils have been recruiting Young upon the conclusion of the July period.
The release speculated about options other than college and stated that Young wasn’t against exploring what’s out there in terms of college and professional options. Potential options outside of college that will be explored are prep school, NBDL and European basketball.
“My family and I highly value education and I will attend college and complete my education at some point,” Young communicated in the release. “However, we believe that it is prudent to explore all viable options available after high school.”
The release stated that Young is focusing on making official visits to Arkansas, Duke, Georgia Tech, Kentucky and North Carolina.
As for the schools that were not included on the list, Young said it was a difficult decision. “There are some great schools and coaches that recruited me. I think them for their interest. Hopefully, they’ll get some top players and be successful.”
