New Vermont coach Mike Longergan got his first recruit when unsigned 6-foot-7 senior forward Colin McIntosh decided to pull the trigger while on a visit to UVM.

Vermont coach Mike Lonergan got his first recruit – and it’s a big one.

The new Catamounts head man got a verbal commitment from unsigned Northfield Mount Hermon (Mass.) 6-foot-7 senior forward Colin McIntosh on Saturday.

``At first, I was set on playing at a high-major school,” McIntosh said. “Then I didn’t play as well as I could have and the offers never came. As the year went on, I wanted to go to a school where I could get playing time.”

Believe it or not, Vermont was McIntosh’s first official visit. McIntosh had made some unofficial visits – including trips to Fairfield and Siena.

``I enjoyed every part of the visit this weekend,” McIntosh said. “Playing with the guys, the area and everything.”

``Coach Lonergan is real competitive,” he continued. “I can tell he cares about winning. He’s going to be tough, but fair. I loved Vermont and didn’t want to wait. It was too exciting to put the decision off.”
