Northfield Mount Hermon (Mass.) was a popular destination for college coaches this season. Joe Wolfinger is headed to Washington, Alvin Lewis to UC-Irvine, Matt Smith to Northeastern and Jawaan Wright to Loyola (Md.).
However, there is still a talented trio still looking for future destinations: Colin McIntosh, Andrew Lyell and Skyler Khaleel.
The 6-7, 190-pound McIntosh has arguably received the most interest of the threesome. He averaged 15 points and 7 boards per game this season, has an 1190 on the SAT and boasts a 3.0 GPA. He had 31 points and 8 rebounds in a victory against Redemption Christian earlier in the year.
``He’s an athletic shooter who finally has a chip on his shoulder,” NMH associate coach John Carroll said. “The last five weeks, he’s been our most consistent player and he’s played the best basketball of his career over that span.”
McIntosh, a Milton, Mass., native, is receiving interest from the likes of Fairfield, Manhattan and more recently, Rice and Marshall.
The 6-5 Lyell, a native of Newport, R.I., put up 10 points, 5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and a pair of steals per contest. His breakout game was a 27-point, 10-rebound, 5-assist performance against Holderness. Lyell has a 2.8 GPA, an 1100 on the SAT and has received interest from the likes of Vermont, BU, Princeton and Dartmouth.
``He has as high a basketball IQ as I’ve seen,” Carroll said of Lyle. “He knows where everyone is supposed to be on the floor. He’s that old cliché, he’s a coach on the floor. He can play three positions from the point to the wing.”
Khaleel is a 6-6 New York native who played at Cardozo High (N.Y.) last season and averaged 10.5 points and 5 rebounds per game in the prep ranks this year. He recently took a visit to Loyola (Md.) and is being looked at by BU, Charleston, UC-Irvine, Fairfield, Manhattan and St. Bonaventure.
``He’s a big-time competitor who has really improved his perimeter skills over the past seven months,” Carroll said.
