Iowa Lands Canadian Wing
Nathan Skinner of West Hills in Toronto, knew exactly what he wanted to do and when the time was right, he pounced on an offer from Iowa. Skinner, a 6-foot-4 wing who will play the shooting guard and small forward in college, attended the ABCD Camp last July but it was in Las Vegas at the Big Time where he caught the attention of the Iowa staff. "They started recruiting me after the Big Time in Vegas," Skinner said. "But, I've seen Coach Neal for the last two years at ABCD Camp. He told my AAU coach that they were interested but they weren't sure if they had a scholarship. The Pierre [Pierce] situation happened to free up a scholarship for me." Skinner visited the school the weekend of February 20 and committed shortly thereafter. "I just saw how great of a situation it would be for me to play for Iowa," Skinner said. "Other schools were recruiting me but they didn't give the situation Iowa has." And, no one else had Steve Alford at the helm. "I just fell in love when I stayed there. You could tell that the community is behind the Hawkeyes and [the coach]." Washington State had offered Skinner and he thought Wisconsin was getting close, especially after a successful run at an event in February. "I think I'll be more of a two guard and a small forward," Skinner said. "I'll play wherever Coach Alford wants me to play. I'll play center if he tells me too."
