He may not be as well-known as the Marques Johnson out of Fort Wayne, Ind., but this Marques Johnson is a guy who can run a team - and the New Jersey native made his decision on Wednesday.

Marques Johnson, a 5-11, 160-pound senior point guard at Raritan High (N.J.), committed and signed with Boston University on Wednesday.

``I went there and visited and it was a nice place," Johnson said. "I liked it a lot. I've been down here in New Jersey all my life and wanted to get away from home."

Johnson, who averaged 13.5 points, 6.3 boards and 5.2 assists per game last season, also considered Monmouth, Fairfield and Farleigh Dickinson.

``Monmouth is only about 15 minutes away. I wanted to get away," Johnson added.

Johnson was selected as the Asbury Park Press Co-Player of the Year, along with teammate Qa'rraan Calhoun, and helped lead the team to the Group 3 state title a year ago.

Johnson played primarily with the Trailblazers this past summer, but also suited up with the Sure Shots and the New Jersey Wildcats at times.
