It’s been a whirlwind of sorts for Alvin Lewis, but the Boston native has finally found a future home.
Lewis, a 6-foot senior point guard at Northfield Mount Hermon who attended Madison Park (Mass.) last season, committed to Cal-Irvine after a trip out to California this past weekend.
``He's had enough experience in Boston and in the northeast," NMH associate head coach John Carroll said. "He wanted to experience something different and when he went to Southern California, it was definitely different."
``He loved the staff and he’s come to the conclusion that he wants to be an important piece in college and make an impact on the team,” added Carroll.
Lewis has successfully made the transition to the point guard spot in the last year or so. He played for Metro Boston two summers ago and then ran the team for the New England Playaz this past summer.
``He’s very determined,” Carroll said. “He competes every possession, is strong and is a great example for our younger guys on and off the court.”
