Booker Woodfox led the Dallas Metroplex in scoring last season at 25.3 points per game and he’ll take his scoring ability to Louisiana-Lafayette next season.
The 6-2 senior from Lewisville High (Texas) committed to the Rajin’ Cajuns and new coach Robert Lee on Tuesday.
``He’s big and strong and has phenomenal leaping ability,” Lewisville coach Jimmy Roe said. “He’s a dynamic shooter with exceptional range who gets rid of it quickly.”
``He’s got an uncanny ability to absorb body contact and use English to finish with hang time,” added Roe. “That’s definitely a gift.”
Woodfox, who played with the Dallas Mustangs this past summer, also considered Oral Roberts and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Roe said that some of the bigger schools had expressed interest, but stopped recruiting him because he has yet to qualify academically.
``In the long run, Booker said how comfortable he felt with the campus and the coaching staff at Louisiana-Lafayette,” Roe said. “(Assistant coach) Carlin Hartman did a great job. Booker came back from his visit bubbling and excited about it.”
