The Middle Tennessee State Raiders are going to be thinking NCAA Tournament this year and beyond. On Tuesday, the program committed two talented players.
Darren Avery, a 6-foot-3 stud athlete from Corinth (Miss.) High pledged his allegiance. So did point guard Kevin Kanaskie, a 6-2 standout from State College in Pennsylvania.
Avery had a big summer on the AAU circuit. This is a dynamic athlete with big time hops. He’s put together like a linebacker and can score big numbers.
Kanaskie’s father Kurt is an assistant coach at Penn State. The Raiders had an interesting connection with Kanaskie as his father once coached current Middle assistant Matt Woodley.
Kanaskie was recruited by James Madison, William & Mary and Wisconsin-Green Bay. However, the potential for success at Middle Tennessee had him excited.
“I know that they’re supposed to be really good next year and the year after that. I think they should win the Sun Belt for sure but I haven’t played with their guys yet.”
